Seventh-graders sweep Mitchell
MITCHELL Hurons seventh-grade volleyball team swept Mitchell in three matches on Thursday.
The Tigers won the A-match with scores of 25-14 and 25-21.
Bentlea Fenske was perfect on 10 serves with four aces for Huron. Grace Diede was 13 of 14 with three aces and Natasha Vasquez was 11 of 11 with two aces.
Huron won the B-match with scores of 22-25, 25-22 and 16-14.
Kaelynn Dubon and Lowanna Lo each had five aces for the Tigerss. Dubon was 10 of 12 serving, while Lo was 8 of 11 serving. Quinn Pell was 13 of 16 with four aces and Moora Htoo was 8 of 11 with four aces.
Hattie Ross was 7 of 9 serving with an ace.
Huron swept the C-match with scores of 25-21 and 25-16.
Valentina Velez-Sanchez had eight aces for the Tigers.
Eighth grade
Mitchell won 2 of the 3 matches against the Huron eighth graders on Thursday.
The Kernels had set scores of 25-22 and 25-14 to win the A-match.
McKenna Porisch was 10 of 12 attacking with four kills to lead Huron. Lylli Hofer had two kills on 5 of 6 hitting, while Alyssa Urena also had two kills on 2 of 4 hitting and Arianna James added a kill.
Urena also had three aces on 8 of 9 serving for the Tigers, while Sofialin Lian was 6 of 6 with three aces. James was 6 of 6 with an ace and Porisch was 4 of 5 with an ace.
Mitchell claimed a 2-1 victory in the B-match.
Maddie McGaugh led Huron with three kills on 4 of 7 attacks, while Taelyn Larson had two kills on 3 of 9 attacks and Mercy Htoo added a kill.
Amaria Greene was 11 of 12 with two aces for the Tigers, while Wendy Hea had two aces on 7 of 9 serving and McGaugh had a pair of aces on 4 of 8 serving. Htoo and Larson each had an ace.
The lone win for Huron was a 2-0 victory in the C-match.

The Huron teams will host Pierre on Monday.
