South Dakota author Roger Wonnenberg visits Huron Public Library

HURON The Huron Public Library hosted author Roger Wonnenberg on Thursday, September 4, for an Author Talk and Book Signing featuring his memoir Wonnenbergs Travels.

The book captures a remarkable journey that began in 1974, when three 18-year-old boys from small-town South Dakota set out to travel to Australia after high school. Without work visas, they took on whatever jobs they could findfruit picking, tobacco harvesting, railroad laborand experienced the consequences and freedoms of life on the road. Over six months of travel, timely fate led them from one adventure to the next across the world. Through it all, Wonnenbergs faith and the power of prayer ultimately guided him home just in time.

The true stories in the book are incredibleso unbelievable at times that readers may find themselves asking if they really happened. Wonnenberg also brought along memorable artifacts from his travels, including a blanket he still owns 50 years later and a Billy Teapot, made from an empty coffee can, like the one he used to make tea every morning on the road.

Wonnenberg donated a copy of Wonnenbergs Travels to the Huron Public Library, where it is now available for checkout. Additional copies may be purchased on Amazon.
