Wolsey-Wessington second in Huron Invite

HURON The Wolsey-Wessington cheer team finished second during the Huron Cheer and Dance Invite on Tuesday at Huron Arena.

The Warbirds amassed 251 points to finish behind only Brookings in the 12-team competition. The Bobcats had a winning total of 266.50 points.

Sioux Valley was third in the cheer competition with 248, followed by Watertown at 246 and mitchell at 243.5.

Huron was sixth in the final standings with 205.50 points, followed by Iroquois/Lake Presotn at 186.

The Huron dance team was eighth in the 9-team competition on Tuesday, with 28 points.

The Tigers had a score of 222 to finish sixth in hip hop, while they turned in a score of 220 to finish eighth in pom.

Harrisburg was the top dance team with 40 points, while Pierre was second with 38 points and Sioux Falls Washington was third with 38 points.

Rounding out the top five were Watertown at 36 and Aberdeen Central at 35.

Huron travels to compete in the Brookings Invite on Saturday at 11 a.m.

Iroquois/Lake Preston will be at the Harrisburg Invitational on Sept. 27, while

Wolsey-Wessington will host the Warbird Invite on Sept. 30.
