HURON Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) recently recognized Cassie McGarry, food service supervisor, with the Beyond Exceptional Everyday (BEE) Award.
McGarry works as a food service supervisor at HRMCs Central Cafe. She was nominated for the award by a patient who shared, She goes above and beyond for patients. Shes a very hard worker and also very kindhearted. She always makes sure that the patient is comfortable or is always asking if they could get them something else if they need help with anything. She always carries a smile on her face and is willing to help anybody in need.
McGarry enjoys both the fulfillment of patient interactions and connections with staff in her role. What I like most about my job is getting to personally go into the patients room to provide their meal tray and seeing their reaction when its time to eat. I enjoy seeing many of them smile and get excited for their food.
She continued, I also like when I get to be in the cafeteria; it makes my day seeing and visiting with many familiar and friendly faces who work in the hospital when they come to eat.
HRMCs BEE Award recognizes employees who go above and beyond to demonstrate the hospitals core values of REACH by being respectful, engaged, available, competent, and helpful. Employees can be nominated by fellow coworkers or by patients or visitors who witness exceptional service. A committee of employees from various hospital departments select the BEE Award honoree on a quarterly basis.
As BEE Award recipient, McGarry received a meal certificate to a local restaurant, $30 credit to the HRMC employee store, a professional photo session, $50, and a lapel pin.
Upon receiving the award, McGarry expressed, Hearing that patients statement melted my heart. Seeing a room full of wonderful people that presented this award to me made me feel complete. To say the least I was beyond grateful and happy that I was chosen for this award.
McGarry moved to Huron in 2018 for her aunt, Ardeen, who was diagnosed with Lupus in 2016 and passed away in 2022. I enjoy life as she would with all she was passionate about. McGarry also credits her mother, Meredith, for being her biggest supporter. In her free time, she enjoys doing activities with her daughter Felicity as well as crafts, watching tv shows and movies and often participates in hospital volunteer activities.
