BROOKINGS Brookings won two of three matches against the Huron seventh-grade volleyball teams on Thursday.
The lone victory for the Tigers came in the A-match, where they won with scores of 18-25, 25-23 and 15-13.
Grace Diede had 4 aces on 15 of 17 serving for Huron, while Natasha Vasquez-Morales was 7 of 11 serving with two aces. Javeah Mallett was perfect on nine serves with an ace, while Bentlea Fenske also had an ace on 6 of 6 serving.
Brookings used scores of 25-11 and 25-12 to win the B-match.
Kaelynn Dubon was 5 of 5 serving with two aces, while December Chase was 2 of 3 with two aces. Moora Htoo finished 4 of 5 serving.
The Bobcats claimed the C-match with scores of 25-7 and 25-10.
Willow Katz was 3 of 4 serving with an ace for the Tigers, while Vanlentina Velez Sanchez was 2 of 2.
Huron hosts Yankton on Monday.
Eighth-grade
Brookings swept the Huron eighth-grade volleyball teams on Thursday.
The Bobcats won the A-match with scores of 25-12 and 25-21.
Lylli Hofer was 10 of 13 hitting with four kills to lead the Tigers, while Alyssa Urena was 6 of 8 with a kill and Arianna James was 5 of 6.
James was also 7 of 8 serving with an ace, while McKenna Porisch was 5 of 6 with an ace. Also recording an ace each were Hofer and Urena.
Urena finished with five assists, while James and Porisch each had a block.
Brookings cruised to a win in the B-match with scores of 25-8 and 25-5.
Maddie McGaugh was 2 of 3 with a kill for Huron, while Gracie Feldhaus was 2 of 2 attacking.
McGaugh was 4 of 4 serving with an ace for the Tigers, while Amari Greene was 3 of 3 serving.
The Bobcats used scores of 25-19 and 25-14 to win the C-match.
Wendy Hea had a kill on one attack for Huron, while Ayla Knutson was 1 of 1.
Lay Htee was 8 of 8 serving with two aces for the Tigers, while Jade Dunn was 7 of 8 serving with two aces. Adrianna Glanzer was 5 of 5 with a pair of aces, while Hea had an ace on 2 of 2 serving.
Huron hosts Yankton on Monday.
