Huron girls seventh in Watoma Invite

WATERTOWN The Huron girls finished seventh during the Watoma Invite on Thursday.

Harrisburg, which had the top three runners in the race, won the girls division with 23 points. Brandon Valley was second at 53, while Pierre was third at 85.

The Tigers had 184 points to finish in front of Aberdeen Central, which had 211.

Brianna Reilly won the varsity girls race for Harrisburg in 187:10.34. She was followed by teammates Hannah Genrich at 18:25.29 and Elois Scharnberg at 19:09.77.

Emery Larson of Pierre was fourth at 19:17.62, while Peyton Beatch of Brandon Valley was fifth at 19:31.21.

Josie Vlieger was the top Huron with a time of 22:19.21, which put her No. 33.
Lily Meyer and Nora Pester were No. 37 and 38, respectively, for the Tigers with times of 22:26.14 and 22:27.65.

Rounding out the lineup for Huron was Lily Swanson at 23:43.51 and Harper Spilde at 25:48.74.

Brandon Valley had three of the top four runners in the varsity boys race to edge Harrisburg for the team title.

The Lynx finished at 30, while Harrisburg had 49. Rounding out the top five were OGorman at 105, Brookings at 112 and Pierre at 124.

Huron boys finished eighth at 221.

Mikah Peters used a time of 15:33.84 to win the varsity boys race. Dane Stark of Watertown was second at 16:11.07.

Brandon Valley teammates Asher Selness and Ethan Kyte were third and fourth, respectively, with times of 16:17.59 and 16:20.78. Caleb Morris of Pierre rounded out the top five at 16:35.79.

James Weir led Huron with a time of 19:00.30, which put him 38th.

Teagan Lien was 51st for the Tigers at 19:54.96. Max Radke finished at 20:13.65, while Sebastian Olivo clocked in at 22:00.13. Emerson Sarvis finished at 23:15.01, followed by Colt Fenske at 25:23.40 and Matthew Salmen at 27:42.19.

Huron is now off until Oct. 11, when it travels to Mitchell for the Eastern South Dakota Conference Meet at Wild Oak Country Club.
