Huron soccer teams close season against Harrisburg

HARRISBURG Huron closed the regular season by battling to a 1-1 tie against Harrisburg on Thursday.

It was a great final game by the Huron Tiger boys. I am proud of the way they played 80 strong minutes, Huron coach Leah Branaugh said. We finished the season with our heads held high.

Harrisburg put the first goal on the board in the 23rd minute as a high bounce made it over the goalkeeper for the score.

Huron answered with its goal in the 39th minute.

Maner Htoo score on a header off a corner kick by Juan Arevalo Morataya to make it 1-1.

Neither team was able to find the net in the second half.

Jaxon Andru finished with seven saves for Huron.

I cant say enough about the way the boys fought all season and never gave up, Branaugh said. Even when things werent going our way, they continued to work hard.

Huron finished the season at 0-11-3, while Harrisburg ended the year at 1-8-5.

Harrisburg won the junior varsity game 4-0.

Johnathan Ordonez had four saves for Huron, while John Say had a pair of saves.

Pierre 2, Huron 0
Pierre edged Huron 2-0 on Tuesday.

The Governors scored during the 31st minute and again in the 71st minute.

Andru had thee saves for the Tigers.

Huron claimed a 2-0 win in the junior varsity game.

Aiden Maung and Ordonez had goals for the Tigers, while Hosea Lay and Maung had assists.

Say tallied three saves to earn the win.

Girls
HARRISBURG Harrisburg improved to 12-1-1 with a 13-0 victory against Huron on Thursday in the regular-season finale.

Huron ended the season at 0-14.

On Tuesday, Pierre defeated Huron 10-0.

Wai Wai Lin had 16 saves in the net for the Tigers.

Pierre also won the girls JV game 10-0.

Rosy Wah had seven saves as the goalkeeper for Huron.
