Huron Solid Waste Department sets hazardous waste collection day for October 22

Huron city residents can drop off hazardous waste on Wednesday, October 22, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Solid Waste Department, 1552 4th St. SE.

Accepted waste items: aerosol cans, household cleaning chemicals, drain cleaner, sanitizers, lithium and Ni-Cad batteries, paints, varnishes, brake fluid, pool chemicals and pesticides/herbicides.

Not accepted items: business/commercial waste, tires, gasoline/diesel, car batteries, motor oil, antifreeze, explosives, ammunition, medical waste, sharps, asbestos, electronics, fire-damaged debris and pressure tanks.

Please limit transportation to 15 gallons or 125 pounds of waste per vehicle. Aerosol cans should be boxed together and chemicals should not be mixed in one container. A valid ID must be presented.
