HURON Jeff Mediger is the new proud owner of Medis Juice Box, which is conveniently located at 1502 Dakota Ave. SE.
I have worked in the food industry since I was 16, and at age 29, I bought my first business, which was a Pizza Ranch, said Jeff. I ironically was a fan of the Huron Tribe back in the day. Clyde The Glide Harrington was my favorite player who always showed me respect as a kid, and he worked for the Huron Pizza Hut.
Mediger explained, I always said I wanted to be a pizza guy like Clyde, and so at 16, when I worked for Pizza Hut in Sioux Falls, Clyde was the district manager, and it was amazing to get to see him after all those years still doing the pizza work.
Mediger also started the Mac Shack about four years ago, which he takes to the Sioux Empire Fair in Sioux Falls and the South Dakota State Fair in Huron every year.
I wanted to keep it something for my hometown thing, he said. He also owns another business that sells heat and cold compresses for aches and pains.
Mediger purchased the Juice Box in August, just a few weeks before the State Fair. They opened their doors on September 8, the Monday after the fair ended.
We have more consistent hours for sure, and have also changed the flavoring to a healthier choice, said Jeff.
There are also four different add-on options, including a clear base whey protein isolate available in six flavors, as well as greens, extra energy, and collagen. All drinks are 32 ounces and are gluten-free, certified kosher, non-GMO, vegan, and contain no sugar, high fructose corn syrup, or aspartame.
As of now, we are working on a few warm drinks for the cold season, and are looking into doing some healthy wraps, salads, fruit choice options, and possibly smoothies down the road, Mediger added.

When I heard that the business was for sale, I knew it was something I didnt want to see die, said Brown. I was a regular customer and it was something that really sparked my interest, so I started doing my own research, reached out to Jeff and had a conversation about a possible business deal, and now here we are.
Brown has 13 years of management experience and is excited to be a part of this journey.
Health is important to me, and why I so badly wanted to see it continue in the community, Brown added.
Medis Juice Box hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and closed on Sunday. They also offer gift cards.
They offer a wide variety of healthy drink options, including hydration-only drinks with zero caffeine, and all their drinks contain one ounce of aloe vera. Mediger and Brown have numerous plans in place for the near future to expand their menu and offer customers the best possible experience.
