RAPID CITY With five golfers in the top ten, Harrisburg was able to secure the Class AA boys state golf team title on Tuesday at Meadowbrook Golf Course in Rapid City.
Harrisburg finished with a two-day total of 590 to finish six strokes ahead of OGorman. Sioux Falls Lincoln carded a 601 to finish third, while Brookings and Brandon Valley placed fourth and fifth, respectively.
OGormans Taten Mauney was the sole individual golfer to finish under par, shooting a two-day score of 142 to beat a four-way tie for second place among Braxton Hollan of Lincoln, Tyson Lunn of Brookings, Charlie Swift of Harrisburg and Jayden Antonen of OGorman at 147.
Hurons top finisher was Ty Kleinsasser, who shot a 168 to finish tied for 66th place. Chase Schuchhardt finished with a 206.
Class A
VERMILLION The Dakota Valley Black Panthers had the best of a bad day all around for golfers on Tuesday, finishing with a team score of 599 to win the Class A state boys golf title, played at The Bluffs Golf Course in Vermillion.
Hometown Vermillion finished second at 603, and it was a significant distance before St. Thomas More registered a 634 to place third.
St. Thomas Mores Hayden Heig beat the tough Tuesday and repeated his 69 from the first day to finish six-under on the tournament and run away with the individual title. Matt DeBeer of Dakota Valley finished second, seven strokes back.
Conner Zens of Redfield carded a 194 to finish 82nd.
