HIGHMORE With three of the top five runners in the race, James Valley Christian won the boys title during the Action Club Invitational on Saturday in Highmore.
The Vikings finished with nine points in the final boys standings, while North Central was second at 38. Rounding out the top five were Herreid/Selby Area at 38, Highmore-Harrold at 46 and Gettysburg at 55.
Miller was seventh at 57.
Gavin Herish of Herreid/Selby Area won the boys race in 17:01. He was trailed across the line by a trio of JVC runners.
Kaden Ober was second for the Vikings in 17:05, while Kolby VanDerWerff was third at 18:11 and Levi Crandall was fourth at 18:18.
Reagan Sandness was seventh for Sunshine Bible Academy at 18:48, while Jordan Erfman of Highmore-Harrold was 10th at 19:15.
Ipswich had the top five runners in the varsity girls race to secure the team title with six points, while Herreid/Selby Area was second at 26.
James Valley Christian won a three-way battle for the third spot with 47 points. Faulkton Area was fourth via tiebreaker with 47 points and Miller was fifth at 48.
Isabella Galbraith of Ipswich turned in a winning time of 19:52.
Hadasah Olson was 10th for James Valley Christian at 21:45.
