Letter – Brewer 10-8-25

To the editor:

October 5th 11th is National 4-H Week!

My name is Charleigh Brewer, I am member of the Prairie Wrangles 4H Club and this will be my eighth year in 4-H.
There are a lot of great things about 4-H from giving back to Huron through community service projects, the excitement of winning ribbons at the county horse show, all the unique exhibits and projects at Achievement Days plus variety of activities 4-H has to offer from shooting sports to showing cattle, sheep, pigs and goats.

But by far my favorite activity in 4-H is rodeo! There are multiple regional rodeos across South Dakota every weekend during the summer starting Memorial Day weekend. The 4-H rodeo I look forward to the most is Hurons 4-H rodeo in July. You will all have to come watch next year at the Heartland Rodeo Grounds east of Huron on US Hwy. 14.

At each regional rodeo, the top four in each event qualify for State 4-H Finals which is held in Ft. Pierre in mid-August. Last year there were more than 700 contestants competing at finals, which is three days with four rodeo performances filled of horses, goats, calves, bucking stock and everything there is to love about rodeo. I have made amazing friends through rodeo.

If you are 8-18 years old and are interested in rodeo, you should check out 4-H rodeo. I promise you will not be disappointed!
