HURON James Valley Christian earned a trip to the Class A State Boys Soccer Tournament for a second year in a row with a 7-0 victory against Belle Fourche in the semifinals on Saturday at JVC Field.
It was the fifth consecutive shutout for Jonah Niederbaumer in the net for the Vikings, who held a 27-7 advantage for shots.
Jonah Niederbaumer anchored another JVC shutout with lots of help from Isaac Wipf, Monty Gross, Luke Miller, Kolby VanDerWerff and others, JVC coach Jory Wipf said.
The Vikings had the win advantage in the opening half and capitalized early with a goal in the first minute to Keegan Loewen. He was assisted on the play by Isaac Fast.
Noah Fast scored the next three goals for JVC, with two of them being in the first half. He scored during the seventh, 29th and 45th minutes.
The Vikings led 3-0 at the half and kept the pressure on despite the wind advantage shifting to Belle Fourche.
Gavin Waldner stretched JVCs lead to 5-0 and then assisted on a goal by Isaac Fast. Carson Dorris capped the scoring for the Vikings with a goal with 12 minutes to play.
James Valley Christian, which finished as the runner-up a year ago, will face Freeman Academy for the Class A championship at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sioux Park Stadium in Rapid City.
