To the editor:
I recently watched a press conference wherein President Trump praised the president of Argentina, Javier Milei, a right-wing populist. Trump promised $20 BILLION dollars to help Melei in his upcoming election. And perhaps he can even make it $40 BILLION. Trump stated that he controls all the money in Washington, D.C.
I have always learned that it is Congress who controls the purse strings. I guess he doesnt need Congress for anything, as members roll over and agree to anything Trump wants. This is exactly how dictators operate.
Speaker Johnson refuses to bring the House back in session to negotiate a settlement for the Shut Down. Johnson talks about a bill to improve the ACA, but refuses to bring it up. Currently the GOP controls all 3 branches of government, but they continue to blame Democrats for failure to compromise.
A compromise between both parties could potentially be beneficial to all.
Trump continues to lie to the American people. It is against the law to pay for insurance for persons in the country illegally, yet he maintains its being done.
He claims inflation is down. It is NOT. He claims grocery prices are lower.
Theyre NOT. (One wonders if Trump has ever shopped for groceries!) It seems to me that everything that goes wrong in this country is still President Bidens fault. I think Trump needs to look in the mirror to see whos really at fault for the problems were experiencing now.
Our national debt has increased nearly $1.7 TRILLION since Trump assumed office. Just where is all the tariff money going? He said with the tariffs our national debt would go down. It has NOT. Another lie. Trump warns Putin that he will sell long range Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine if the war is not settled soon. I think that its time for action, not just idle threats.
