The Huron chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma is pleased to honor Keitha Neuharth for her dedication and loyalty by awarding her a 50-year pin.
Keitha Neuharth graduated from Huron College and began her career in Tyler, Minn., where she taught for two years before she was married. After marriage, she taught for 36 years in the Huron School District, primarily teaching third grade.
She held all chapter Delta Kappa Gamma offices as well as state level offices of recording secretary, 1st vice president and president. She has been the local chapters faithful photographer, historian and scrapbook coordinator for many years.
Keithas commitment to the chapter is shown by attending the September 1981 meeting when she went into labor, delivering her duaghter, Kristen, the next day.
She has faithfully attended state conventions and has attended regional and national conventions. She helped to organize the regional convention in 2017 when it was held in Spearfish. She attended a regional convention where training for state presidents was held in Minneapolis and also attended conventions in Bismark and Milwaukee.
Keitha reminisched about how the chapter meetings have changed since she started. All members were allowed to join by invitation only. The meetings at that time always included a meal and were very formal. Everyone would dress up for these events.
Delta Kappa Gamma is an international, professional honor society of key women educators in the United States, Europe, Latin America and Japan. DKG promotes personal and professional growth and excellence in education throughout the world. It consists of chapter, state and international connections. There are many benefits of becoming a member, including, but not limited to, community projects, fellowship, input into legislative issues, scholarships, emergency financial assistance for natural disasters and discounts for insurance and travel.
