Chaparro wins title for Tigers

CHAMBERLAIN — Lucas Chaparro won an individual title at 190 pounds for the Huron Tigers on Saturday at the River City Rumble.

Chaparro’s effort helped the Tigers to a fifth-place finished in the final standings.

O’Gorman had 169.5 points win the event, while Sisseton was second at 160.5. Rounding out the top five were Chamberlain at 143, Mitchell at 100.5 and Huron at 89.5.

Carter Nelson was third at 113, Kadrian Moreno at 120 and David Strassburg at 126 were third for the Tigers, while Ernest Wallette at 126 and Brady Meyer at 138 were fourth.

Clark/Willow Lake wins title at Little B Tournament
PARKSTON — With 181 points, Clark/Willow Lake won the championship at the Parkston Little B Tournament on Saturday.

Parkson was second at 168.5, followed by Howard at 136 and McCook Central/Montrose and Windom-Mountain Lake (Minn.) at 122.

Miller/Highmore-Harrold was seventhin the 18-team event with 108, while Wessington Springs/Woonsocket/Wolsey-Wessingotn was 11th at 57.5.

Cade Gaikowski at 120 pounds, Benny Pommer at 126 and Austin Vig at 165 won titles for Clark/Willow Lake. Kaden Wookey at 132, Cooper Pommer at 138 and Isaac Johnson at 150 were second.

Maverick Clausen at 113 and Logan Foster at 144 were fourth for the Cyclones, while Damian Severson was sixth at 144.

Chase Hurd claimed an individual title for Miller/Highmore-Harrold at 144, while teammate JD Chavez was second at the weight. Will Hosman was second at 106, while Easton VanDerWerff was third at 106, Talon Pin was third at 138 and Sam Crago was third at 150.

Preston Aesoph was fourth for the Bandits at 126, while Cade Werdel was sixth at 138.

Jacksen Carter at 138 and Jaspur Gran at 285 won championships for Wessington Springs/Woonsocket/Wolsey-Wessington.

Kingsbury County wins invitational
ARLINGTON — With three individual champions and a total of 12 place winners, Kingsbury County claimed the team title during its own invitational on Saturday.

The Knights amassed 221.5 points, while Brookings was second at 202.5. Flandreau was third in the 12-team eevent with 145.5, followed by Britton-Hecla at 142 and Redfield at 135.5.

Chase Henriksen at 120 pounds, Lane Albrecht at 132 and Greyson Nielson at 157 won individual titles for Kingsbury County.

Cody Zell at 144, Caden Singrey at 150 and Blake Jennings at 165 were second for the Knights, while Remi St. Sauver at 113 and Breyten Johnson at 285 and were third. Donovan Sandven was fourth at 175, while Willy Miller was fifth at 106, Liam Gunnon was fifth at 190 and Case Phelps was sixth at 215.

Redfield had four wrestlers reach championship matches.

Connor Zens won a title for the Pheasants at 144, while Jace Egar at 106, Maddon Odland at 120 and Chace Odland at 126 were second. Kasey Hermann at 138 and Rollie Betten at 285 wwere fourth, while Axel Deyoung was fifth at 113.

Girls

Huron girls second at River City Rumble
CHAMBERLAIN — The Huron girls’ wrestling team finished second in the 17-team River City Rumble on Saturday.

The Tigers finished with 108 points, which put them behind only Bon Homme/Scotland/Avon, which had 127.5.

Mitchell was third at 101, followed by Harding County at 84 and Chamberlain at 74.5.

Chalie Say won a championship for Huron at 110 pounds, while Snow Wah at 105, Moo B Say at 125 and Eh Ku Shee at 130 were second.

Lana Sherry was third for the Tigers at 170 and Baw Eh was fourth at 140.

Clark/Willow Lake, Miller/Highmore-Harrold finish strong in Little B Tournament
PARKSTON — Clark/Willow Lake and Miller/HIghmore-Harrold finished first and second, respectively, in the Parkston Little B Girls’ Tournament on Saturday.

The Cyclones won five individual titles en route to posting a winning total of 98 points. Miller/Highmore-Harrold finished at 58.5. Rounding out the top five were McCook Central/Montrose at 51.5, Marion/Freeman at 37 and Ethan/Parkston at 31.

Winning titles for Clark/Willow Lake were Kadee Frankfurth at 105, Emma Bochek at 115, Naomi Miler at 135, Breanna Ahrens at 155 and Adilynn Ahrens at 170.

Cadence Bochek at 120 and Chyanne Guerdet at 130 were second for the Cyclones, while Zoe Nichols at 125 was third, Selma Nelson at 120 was fourth and Payten Bokinskie at 140 were fifth.

Hailey Schafer at 110 and Mohrgan Werdel at 130 won championships for Miller/Highmore-Harrold. Kadee Kutz at 100, Gabby Werdel at 135 and Macy Johnke at 140 were second, while Morah Swartzenduber at 105 and Mahli Bresson at 155 were third.

Mireya Lebeaux at 115 and Addyson Waldrop at 120 were fifth for Miller/Highmore-Harrold.
