The Huron Youth Leadership Council-Student United Way, is now accepting applications for our 2026 Grant Funding. Every year, our group gives out grants to youth-based organizations in town, and holds a Grant Interview Night. In order to qualify for these grants, you need to be part of a non-profit organization with tax exempt status. The organization also needs to affect youth specifically, and not carry out the same work as other organizations. This year, we will be giving a maximum of $750 per group.
HYLC has three core pillars: volunteerism, civic engagement, and philanthropy. Our grant night falls under the philanthropy category. We raise the funds for these grants with our annual fundraiser, our community wide Christmas concert. We do all sorts of volunteering activities throughout the year, like the Washington Reading Program, Meals on Wheels, library mentoring, and many others. Under civic engagement, we have students participate in community boards in town. Students serve on all kinds of boards, like the Huron Community Foundation, the Nordby Center, the United Way Heartyland Region, the Huron Public Library, the Jan Manolis Family Safe Center, and many others.
Applications for this year’s grant cycle are available on the United Way website at www.liveunitedhuronsd.com under the Campaign tab. You can also request one by emailing [email protected] or [email protected]. The deadline for applications is February 20th. The organization must send a representative from the agency to our Grant Interview Night, which is a chance for groups to discuss their project and answer any questions our students may have. These interviews will be held on March 4th.
More information on the interview schedule will be available once applications come in. For more information, contact the United Way at [email protected].
