PIERRE — The Oahe Capitals scored the first three goals and that would be enough during a 7-2 victory against the Huron All-Stars on Friday.
Lyle Boni, Tryton Parmely and Logan Angerson had goals for the Capitals in the opening period. Ayden Behm and Dylan Dodson assisted on the opening goal, while Asher Vanden Bos and Aiden Bauder asssited on the second goal and Ian Schweitzer assisted on the third goal.
The All-Stars were able to slice into the 3-0 deficit before the end of the first period.
Crosby Hartman scored on a pass from Carlos Ardon with 1:40 to play in the opening period.
With just six seconds remaining in the first period, Ian Crosby scored for Huron to narrow Oahe’s lead to 3-2. He was assisted on the play by Alexander Timm and Mason Hunter.
The late flurry in the opening period would be all the offensive output for the All-Stars in the game.
Oahe would add four goals in the second period, including a pair of goals just 23 seconds apart from Brecken Fuhrman. Ayden Behm scored just 37 seconds later to make it 6-2 and Fuhrman capped the scoring with his third goal to earn the hat trick with 4:07 to play in the second period.
Bridger Babcock, Logan Anderson and Dodson each had two assists for Oahe. Also recording assists were Logan Brown and Cooper Beastrom.
Noah Lueking earned the win in the net for the Capitals (9-6) with 23 saves.
Jace Gerber had 32 saves for the All-Stars.
Huron, which is now 2-12-1, will host Brookings at 8 p.m. Saturday at Bergman Arena.
Junior Varsity
PIERRE — The Huron All-Stars junior varsity, which sits on top the league standings, capitalized on three power plays during a 5-2 victory against the Oahe Capitals on Friday.
The All-Stars scored the first two goas in the opening period and both came on power plays. Phineas Bucklin had the opening goal on an unassisted shot, while Jaxon Greenfield had the second on a pass from Jonas Bucklin.
James Stolley scored with 12 seconds remaining in the opening period for Oahe to slice Huron’s lead to 2-1. Jett Kirschemann assisted on the play.
The All-Stars had the lone goal of the second period. Greenfield scored on a power play with Oaklee Schnabel and Jonas Bucklin assisting.
After carryinga 3-1 advantage into the final period, Huron would outscore the Capitalz 2-1 to secure the win.
Carlos Ardon had the first of two goals for the All-Stars on a pass from Schnabel.
Maximus had the goal for the Oahe with 3:53 to play. Tryton Parmely and Ryan Anderson combined on the assist.
Just 49 seconds after the Capitals’ goal, Hartman netted Huron’s final goal with an assist going to Konrad Frankfurth.
Kaleb Rashaad recorded 36 saves to earn the win for the All-Stars, who improved to 13-3.
Noah Eaton had 35 saves for Oahe, which is now 6-10.
