Huron School Nutrition
The Nutrition Department has been continuing to focus on local foods. This year we have added local oats to our fresh baked bread. Since August 2025, we have used more than 14,000 pounds of local produce for our students in the lunch program. We are continuing to have “try it” days to allow students to experience and give feedback on items, along with surveys of favorites, least favorites, and suggestions that we are working on for next year’s menus. March 2-6 is National School Breakfast Week; this year’s theme is “The Quest for School Breakfast”. We will be trying out some different breakfast items this week and want students’ opinions on these items.
Reminder – if your child qualifies for free/reduced meals that does include breakfast. We would love to take care of breakfast for your busy morning routines.

Madison 2-3 Center
Madison 2-3 Center’s speech therapists want to remind families that one of the most powerful tools for improving children’s speech and language skills is also one of the simplest: reading aloud every day.
Research and classroom experience consistently show that when adults read to children, it strengthens vocabulary, sentence structure, listening skills, and clear speech production. These skills are essential for success in reading, writing, and communication both in and out of the classroom.
Interactive reading—such as asking questions, pointing to pictures, and talking about the story—further enhances these benefits. Experts recommend reading aloud from infancy through the elementary years and beyond. Even 10–15 minutes a day can make a meaningful difference.
