Carter wins title for WS/W/W-W in Aberdeen

ABERDEEN — Jacksen Carter won an individual title at 130 pounds to help Wessington Springs/Woonsocket/Wolsey-Wessington to an eighth-place finish at the Lee Wolf Invitational on Saturday.

Aberdeen Central won the event with 248.5 points, while Watertown was second at 182.5. Rounding out the top five were Bismarck Century (N.D.) at 152.5 and Sisseton and Winner at 123.

Wessington Springs/Woonsocket/Wolsey-Wessington amassed 87 points. Miller/Highmore-Harrold was 10th at 71.5, while Clark/Willow Lake was 12th at 49.5, Redfield was 13th at 46 and Huron was 14th at 27.5.

Carson Finn was second for Wessington Springs/Woonsocket/Wolsey-Wessingotn at 157, while Ethan Rearick was third at 144 and Jaspur Gran was fourth at 285.

Chase Hurd was second at 144 to lead seven place winners for Miller/Highmore-Harrold.

Will Hosman at 106, Cade Werdel at 132 and Sam Crago at 150 were fourth for the Bandits, while Easton VanDerWerff at 106 was seventh and Cassen Nye at 113 and JD Chavez at 144 were eighth.

Kaden Wookey was third for Clark/Willow Lake at 126, while Cade Gaikowski at 120 and Austin Vig at 165 were fourth.

Benny Pommer at 126 was sixth for the Cyclones, while Maverick Clausen at 113 was seventh.

Jace Edgar was third for Redfield at 106, while Kasey Hermann was fourth at 138 and Maddon Odland was fifth at 120.

Carter Nelson at 113 and Lucas Chaparro at 190 were both fifth for Huron.

Huron JV sixth in Groton
GROTON — Stephen Martens finished second at 132 pounds to lead the Huron junior varsity to a sixth-place finish at the Groton Tournament on Saturday.

Groton Area won the team title with 255 points, while Britton-Hecla was second at 182.5. Gettysburg was third at 120, followed by Lemmon at 99 and Watertown JV at 87.

Huron had 72, followed by Clark/Willow Lake at 68.5. Redfield was ninth at 61 and Wessington Springs/Woonsocket/Wolsey-Wessingotn was 16th at 26.

Ernest Wallette at 126 and Uriah Cardona at 165 were third for Huron, while Giovani Rodriguez was fourth at 190 and Tucker Lien was fifth at 90-98.

Damian Severson won an individual title for Clark/Willow Lake at 144, while Mason Severson at 138 and Isaac Johnson at 150 were second.

Westyn Hofer was fifth for the Cyclones at 106, while Aksel Gjerde at 132 and Behrett Ahrens at 175 were sixth.

Cruz Kimlicka at 106 and Rollie Betten at 285 were second for second for Redfield. Axel Deyoung at 113 and Braelon Marlow at 285 were third.

Lorin Schaller was second for Wessington Springs/Woonsocket/Wolsey-Wessington at 90-98, while Tanner Johnson was sixth at 150.

Area girls’ teams compete in Aberdeen
ABERDEEN — Clark/Willow Lake and Kingsbury County were sixth and seventh, respectively, at the Aberdeen Central Invitational on Friday.

Aberdeen Central had 187 points to win the event, while Pierre was second at 162.5. Lemmon was third at 142, followed by Watertown at 131.5 and Bon Homme/Scotland/Avon at 123.5.

With eight place winners, Clark/Willow Lake tallied 113.5 points, while Kingsubry County had 91. Miller/Highmore-Harrold was ninth at 53.

Kadee Frankfurth at 105 pounds, Cadence Bochek at 120 and Naomi Miller at 135 were third for Clark/Willow Lake, while Emma Bochek at 115 and Zoe Nichols at 125 were fourth. Breanna Ahrens was fifth at 155, while Chyanne Guerdet at 130 and Adilynn Ahrens at 170 were sixth.

Izy Bendorf won an individual championship for Kingsbury County at 125, while Payden Coughlin at 120 and Jaidyn Giedd at 170 were second. Jaylynn Johnson was fourth at 110 and Layla Crowe was eighth at 130.

Kaydence Hobert was second for Miller/Highmore-Harrold at 14, while Mohrgan Werdel was fourth at 130. Morah Swartzendruber was sixth at 105, Kadee Kutz was seventh at 100 and Mahil Bresson was eighth at 155.
