Huron gymnasts finish eighth at ESD Conference Meet

ABERDEEN — Huron finished eighth in the Eastern South Dakota Conference Gymnastics Meet on Saturday at Aberdeen Central.

Harrisburg claimed the ESD title with 151.225 points, while Mitchell was second at 146.725. Rounding out the top five were Brookings at 143.4, Watertown at 142.025 and Yankton at 137.425.

Huron finished with 121.7 points.

Katelyn Maeschen of Harrisburg won the ESD all-around title with 38.9 points. She took the top spot in each of the four events.

In the vault, Maeschen turned in a winning score of 9.575. She had a 9.75 on the bars, a 9.85 on the beam and a 9.725 in the floor exercise.

Eh Dah Paw had an 8.875 to finish 15th for Huron on the vault, while teammate Ellie Puterbaugh shared the 19th spot with an 8.75.

Tahtiana Capers led Huron on the bars with a 7.1 to finish tied for 39th, while Puter baugh was 41st at 6.95.

Puterbaugh had an 8.15 to finish 31st on the beam for Huron, while Paw was 35th with an 8.025.

In the floor exercise, Puterbaugh tied for 30th with an 8.425, while Stokley Paomer shared the 39th spot with a 7.85 and Paw had a 7.75 to shared the 42nd spot.

Puterbaugh was 19th in the all-around at 32.275 for Huron, while Paw was 21st at 30.7 and Capers was 23rd at 29.225.

Huron will close the regular season with the State Qualifying Meet at 2 p.m. Saturday in Watertown.
