Huron girls seventh at ESD Championship
BRANDON — The Huron girls’ wrestling team finished seventh in the Eastern South Dakota Conference Championship, which was held Thursday.

Pierre claimed the ESD title with 168 points, while Aberdeen Central was second at 150. Harrisburg was third at 114.5 and Watertown was fourth at 103. Brandon Valley and Brookings shared the fifth spot with scores of 83.5.

Huron tallied 51 points.

The Tigers had four place winners in the event.

Chalie Sah at 110 pounds and Moo B Say at 125 finished second, while Snow Wah at 105 and Kolby Glanzer at 145 were fourth.

Next up for the Huron girls is the Region 3 Tournament at 3 p.m. on Friday in Mitchell.

Clark/Willow Lake second at BDC Tournament
FT. PIERRE — Clark/Willow Lake finished second at the Big Dakota Conference Tournament, which concluded Feb. 7.

Sturgis won the two-day event with 222.5 points, while the Cylcones finished at 163.

Rounding out the top five were Todd County/White River at 92, Sully Buttes at 82.5 and Bennett County at 76.

Miller/Highmore-Harrold was sixth at 72.

Kadee Frankfurth at 105 pounds and Breanna Ahrens at 155 won individual titles for Clark/Willow Lake.

Naomi Miller at 135 was second, while Emma Bochek at 115, Cadence Bochek at 120, Zoe Nichols at 125 and Adilyn Ahrens at 170 were third.

Hadley Gjerde at 115 and Chyanne Guerdet at 130 were fourth for the Cyclones, while Payten Bokinskie was fifth at 140.

Morah Swartzenbruber at 105 and Mohrgan Werdel at 130 were second for Miller/Highmore-Harrold, while Macy Johnke was third at 140. Gabby Werdel was fourth at 135 and Kadee Kutz was sixth at 100.

Huron girls 12th at Yankton Invitational
YANKTON — The Huron girls’ wrestling team was 12th, while Kingsbury County was 25th in the 39-team Yankton Invitational, which was held Feb. 6.

Canton used a score of 223 to win the event, while Aberdeen Central was second at 163. Pierre was third at 147, followed by Watertown at 140.5 and Rapid City Stevens at 131.

Huron had 57 points, while Kingsbury County finished with 21.

Chalie Sah at 110 pounds was the highest finishing wrestler for the Tigers at fourth.

Kaitlyn Florey was fifth for Huron at 235, Moo B Say was seventh at 125 and Eh Ku Shee was eighth at 130.

Izy Bendorf was fourth for Kingsbury County at 125.

Kingsbury County wins Big East/LCC Tournament
CLEAR LAKE — Kingsbury County won the Big East/LCC Tournament, which was held Feb. 7

The Knights amassed 156.5 points, with eight place winners to claim the title in the 15-team event, while Clark/Willow Lake was second at 139.

Rounding out the top five were Flandreau at 123, Beresford/Alcester-Hudson at 109 and Elk Point/Jefferson at 108.5.

Greyson Nielson won a championship for Kingsbury County at 157 pounds, while Cody Zell at 144, Blake Jennings at 165 and Donovan Sandven at 175 were second.

Chase Henriksen at 120 and Liam Gunnon at 190 were third for the Knights, while Willy Miller at 106 and Remi St. Sauver at 113 were fourth.

Winning titles for Clark/Willow Lake were Cade Gaikowski at 120 and Kaden Wookey at 126.

Cooper Pommer at 138 and Isaac Johnson at 150 were second for the Cyclones, while Maverick Clausen at 113 and Austin Vig at 165 were third. Benny Pommer finished fourth at 132.

Redfield hosts invitational
REDFIELD — Wessington Springs/Woonsocket/Wolsey-Wessington and Redfield finished No. 9 and 10, respectively, during the Redfield Invitational on Feb. 7.

Tri-Valley won the event with 222.5 points, while Madison was second at 208.5. Bon Homme/Avon was third at 169.5, followed by Sisseton at 147 and Kimball/White Lake at 130.5.

With a pair of individual championships, Wessington Springs/Woonsocket/Wolsey-Wessington tallied 89.5 points, while Redfield finished at 80.

Winning titles for the Warhawks were Jacksen Carter at 138 pounds and Ethan Rearick at 144.

Jaspur Gran was third at 285 for WS/W/W-W, while Chase Dunsmore was fifth at 132.

Cruz Kimlicka was first for Redfield in 106B, while Jace Edgar at 106, Maddon Odland at 120 and Chace Odland at 126 were all second.
