MITCHELL — Huron senior Ellie Puterbaugh capped her high school career with a personal best in the Class AA Individual Competition during the State Gymnastics Meet on Saturday.
Puterbaugh, who qualified on the beam for the Tigers, turned in a score of 9.05 points to finish 18th overall in the season-ending event.
“Ellie had a no-fall routine and added a flight skill,” Huron coach Julie King said. “She had a great day.”
Puterbaugh was the lone Huron gymnast to qualify for the state meet.
Katelyn Maeschen of Harrisburg claimed the individual title on the beam with a 9.9.
Maeschen was the top finisher in each of the four events en route to winning the Class AA all-around title with a total score of 39.1834. Mitchell teammates Kyanna Gropper and Olivia Prunty were second and third, respectively, with scores of 38.4167 and 37.6833.
Maeschen won the vault wit a 9.6667. She turned in a 9.75 to win on the bars and 9.8667 in the floor exercise.
Harrisburg won the Class AA team championship on Friday with a score of 151.4834, while Mitchell was second at 146.5666. Rounding out the top five were Watertown at 145.05, Sioux Falls Lincoln at 143.4333 and Brookings at 139.8168.
