Speech and Debate competes in Rushmore Challenge

HARRISBURG –– The Huron High School Speech and Debate team competed at Harrisburg’s Rushmore Challenge on Friday and Saturday.

The competition wrapped up the regular season for the team. In JV Public Forum debate, the team of Aubrey Zaw and Michelle Le made quarter finals. In Dramatic oral interp, Emmersyn McGillvrey placed 6th.

The team will be attending the Northern SD National Qualifying tournament on Feb. 20-21 at Brandon Valley and Sioux Falls Jefferson. Students that earn top spots can travel to Richmond, Va., in June. The debaters will compete on March 6-7 at the SDHSAA debate state tournament in Aberdeen.
