Huron girls fifth in Region 3 tournament

MITCHELL — Huron and Miller/Highmore-Harrold were fifth and sixth, respectively in the Region 3 Tournament on Friday.

Huron finished with 111 points, while Miller/Highmore-Harrold had 101.

Aberdeen Central won the region title with 228, while Pierre was second at 193. Bon Homme/Scotland/Avon was third at 161.5, followed by Madison at 125.5.

Huron qualified five wrestlers for the state tournament.

Moo B Say was second for the Tigers at 125, while Chalie Sah at 110 and Kaitlyn Florey at 235 were third. Sep Jade Lyric Paw Gay at 100 and Baw Eh at 140 were fourth.

Say is now 26-12, while Sah is 29-12, Florey is 5-7, Gay is 13-14 and Eh is 15-25.

Hailey Schafer at 110 and Mohrgan Werdel at 130 were second for Miller/Highmore-Harrold, while Morah Swartzendruber at 105, Gabby Werdel at 135 and Macy Johnke at 140 were third. Kaydence Hobert at t145 was fourth.

Schafer is now 10-5, while Mohrgan Werdel is 27-16. Swartzendruber is 22-20, Gabby Werdel is 19-11, Johnke is 23-20 and Hobert is 22-20.

The State Girls’ Tournament begins Thursday and continues through Saturday in Sioux Falls.
