Ethan 43, Sanborn Central/Woonsocket 36

MADISON — Second-seeded Ethan rallied in the second half to secure a 43-36 victory against third-seeded Sanborn Central/Woonsocket in the Region 3B semifinals on Thursday. The victory secures the Rustlers a spot in the Class B SoDak 16.

Sanborn Central/Woonsocket took control early with a 10-4 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Lady Blackhawks then limited Ethan to just two points in the second quarter to take a 16-6 lead a the half.

The Rustlers were able to narrow their deficit to just two points heading into the final quarter by outscoring Sanborn Central/Woonsocket 19-11 in the third quarter.

Ethan completed the comeback by outscoring the Lady Blackhawks 18-9 in the final quarter.

Rachel Klock and Taziah Hawkins each had 13 points for the Rustlers, who improved to 20-2. Marissa Storm and Sadie Mueller had eight points each.

Hawkins also had team highs for Ethan with eight rebounds and three steals. Storm and Mueller each had two assists.

Lainey Goertz had 10 points to lead Sanborn Central/Woonsocket, while Addison Bartholow had nine points. Liz Boschee and Cami Edwards each had six points, while Kali Hofer added five points.

Boschee posted team-high totals for the Lady Blackhawks with 10 rebounds and three steals. Hofer, Bartholow and Goertz each had two assists. Sanborn Central/Woonsocket ends the season at 16-6. Ethan is the fourth seed in the SoDak 16 and will face No. 13 Deubrook Area, which is 13-9) at 7 p.m. Thursday in Parker.

HIGHMORE — Top-seeded Highmore-Harrold opened the Region 6B playoffs with a 60-31 victory over No. 8 Sully Buttes on Tuesday in the quarterfinals.

The Pirates, who improved to 17-4, led 15-8 after the opening quarter and outscored Sully Buttes 22-6 in the second quarter to build a 37-14 advantage at the half.

Jada Baloun had 20 points to lead Highmore-Harrold, while Elle Stagg had 14 points and Tenley McDonnell added nine points.

Stagg also had a team-high nine rebounds for the Pirates, while Autumn Fallis had four assists.

Sully Buttes, which defeated Tiospaye Topa on Monday ina play-in game, finished the season at 5-17.

WHITE — Third-seed Deubrook Area inked a 50-33 victory against sixth-seeded Wolsey-Wessingotn in the quarterfinals of the Region 2B Tournament on Tuesday.

The Dolphins, who improved to 12-9, led 12-0 after one quarter of play. They carried a 22-10 lead into the second half.

Mataya Gouws and Peyton Trooien each had 12 points to lead Deubrook Area, while Carley Engelstad added nine points.

Kendal Uttecht and Raya Toupal each had eight points for Wolsey-Wessington, while Shae Uttecht and Payton Peterson each had six points.

The Lady Warbirds end the season at 11-10.

WILLOW LAKE — Third-seed Clark/Willow Lake pulled away in the second half for a 60-30 victory against sixth-seeded Elkton-Lake Benton en the opening round of the Region 2A Tournament on Tuesday.

After trailing 12-4 at the end of the opening quarter, Elkton-Lake Benton rallied to slice Clark/Willow Lake’s lead to 23-19 at the half. Using a 16-6 run, the Cyclones stretched their lead to 39-25 heading into the final quarter.

Brynn Roehrich and Kamryn Nesheim had 14 and 13 points, respectively, to lead Clark/Willow Lake, which improved to 18-3. Calla Larson had eight points, while Jenny Bevers had seven points.

Roehrich had 16 rebounds to help the Cyclones to a 45-31 advantage on the boards. Nesheimhad seven assists, while Shelby Begeman had five steals.

Elkton-Lake Benton was led by Charlie Thooft with 16 points. Sydney DeVries had 11 rebounds and four steals.

The Lady Elks ended the season at 7-14.

FORESTBURG — Fourth-seeded Sanborn Central/Woonsocket defeated fifth-seeded St. Mary’s 48-39 in the quarterfinals of the Region 3B Tournament on Tuesday.

The Lady Blackhawks limited St. Mary’s to just five points in each of the first and third quarters en route to the victory.

Liz Boschee had 20 points, 15 rebounds and six steals to lead Sanborn Central/Woonsocket, which improved to 16-5. Cami Edwards had 11 points, while Kali Hofer had eight points.

Hofer and Lainey Goertz each had three assists for the Lady Blackhawks.

Maddyn LeBrun had 17 points, nine rebounds and three steals to lead St. Mary’s. Stephanie Geraets had four assists and three steals.

The Cardinals ended the season at 12-9.

HERREID — Second-seeded Herreid/Selby Area cruised to a 63-27 victory against No. 10 Sunshine Bible Academy in the quarterfinals of the Region 6B Tournament on Tuesday.

The Wolverines opened a 20-8 lead in the first quarter and outscored SBA 16-5 in the second quarter to lead 36-13 at the half.

Ciera Mickelson finished with 19 points, 12 rebounds and three steals to lead the Lady Crusaders, who finished the season at 2-20. Soleil Mickelson and Kalyn Sarchet eachhad two assists.

No individual statistics were available for Herreid/Selby Area, which improved to 13-7.
