Huron to host Eastern Regional Destination Imagination Tournament on March 7

HURON –– Huron will welcome creative young minds from across the region on Saturday, March 7, as it hosts the Eastern Regional Destination Imagination Tournament at Huron Middle School.

More than 30 teams from across eastern South Dakota will compete in this exciting, all-day event celebrating creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving. The tournament begins at 1:30 p.m., and the public is invited to attend free of charge.

Destination Imagination (DI) is an international educational program that challenges students in kindergarten through 12th grade to apply creativity and critical thinking to open-ended challenges. Teams will compete in a variety of categories, including Science, Engineering, Fine Arts, Improvisation, Service Learning, Technical, and Early Learning challenges.

Huron will be well-represented at the tournament, with two high school teams, one middle school team, and four elementary teams competing for an opportunity to advance to the State Destination Imagination Tournament, which will be held March 28 in Pierre.

Community members are encouraged to attend and support these talented students as they showcase their innovative solutions and collaborative skills. For more information about the tournament, contact Callee Bauman Wachter, Destination Imagination Director, at [email protected].
