JVC student serves as legislative page

Belle Niederbaumer, a senior at James Valley Christian School, had an impactful experience being a page at the South Dakota Legislature.

“Representative Van Diepen was my sponsor, and he was so welcoming during my time out in Pierre. Observing the legislative process was a great honor, and I learned so much about the processes of the South Dakota government. I got to work on different committee meetings, which were interesting because I got to see how a bill starts before it gets to the floor. The committees are smaller, and they allow the representatives to propose amendments on a bill to make it better for the people of South Dakota.”
