Letter – Stienblock 3/4/26

To the editor,

As we approach World Plumbing Day on March 11, I want to highlight how plumbing connects the world. From delivering clean water to protecting public health, plumbing creates a global network of skilled professionals, pipes, and standards that connect people everywhere to health, opportunity, and each other.

Plumbing systems connect homes, workplaces, and public services to safe water and sanitation, supporting economic prosperity in every community. Every dollar invested in water and sanitation returns more than four dollars in economic benefits. The skilled plumbers in our communities maintain the networks that enable essential services such as healthcare, education, and commerce.

With more than 40 percent of people worldwide still lacking safely managed sanitation services, plumbing professionals are connecting challenges with solutions.

Through such technologies as graywater systems, rainwater harvesting, and smart water management, the plumbing industry is building the connections that strengthen communities and create pathways to better health and economic outcomes.

On March 11, I invite your readers to consider how plumbing connects us all. From the pipes that link homes and businesses to the professionals who share knowledge across borders, plumbing creates vital connections that shape our present and our future.
