You cannot unpost racism. Donald Trump posted a video using one of the most dehumanizing and oldest tropes, previously used to justify racism, slavery, and segregation – a video of the Obamas with ape bodies.
He referred to COVID as kung flu; he stated that people from Haiti were eating cats and dogs. He called African countries s***hole countries. Trump wants to recreate a white America that never existed. He encouraged white men to report their unequal treatment to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, noting that they are entitled to compensation for reverse discrimination.
What are your values and what is your limit?
If you dissent, he seeks you out to punish. He punishes students that protest against his policies. He gaslights peaceful protesters, and when they are murdered while protesting, he claims that they are domestic terrorists.
Journalists are indicted for their coverage. At what point, Constitutionally, are his high crimes impeachable?
The reality is that Trump’s post was up for 12 hours. The damage was done. He was saying that I compare Black people, especially the Obamas, to primates.
Watching U.S. Immigration Enforcement fatally shoot innocent people in Minnesota takes me back to a time of normalized racism. Law enforcement escalation has a cost. Deaths occur because the ICE mentality rewards escalation and normalizes confrontations. The respond to peaceful protest with violence. Surveillance of Congress as they examine the Epstein files is a violation of the separation of powers. It may be akin to wire tapping.
Racism is an emotional reflex. MAGA is a recapitulation of the dark side of American history. There is a resurgence of racism and oppression in this country.
Trump wants to determine our worthiness. with Trump 2.0, will Americans of color need an Underground Railroad 2.0?
