Nelson, Chaparro seventh for Tigers in Class A

SIOUX FALLS — Huron had a pair of place winners during the Class A State Wrestling Tournament, which finished Saturday at the Denny Sanford Premier Center.

Carter Nelson at 113 pounds and Lucas Chaparro at 190 both finished seventh for the Tigers.

Nelson, a junior, closed his season with a 28-10 record. He decisioned Isaac Weerheim of Brandon Valley 4-2 in his final match.

Chaparro, who is also a junior, finished the season at 25-15. He edged senior Cade Kuemper of Watertown 2-1 in the seventh-place match.

Sturgis amassed 219.5 points to win the Class A boys’ team title, while Brandon Valley was second at 174.5.

Watertown was third at 169, followed by Aberdeen Central at 136.5 and West Central at 129.
