HURON –– Dakotaland Federal Credit Union awarded 10 area students with $10,000 in College Scholarships for the 2026-27 school year. Fifteen committee members from across Dakotaland’s ten branch communities judged over 100 scholarship applications.
“It was an enlightening experience to learn about these young men and women. Their accomplishments and ambitions show how truly dedicated they are to their futures. I am proud to work for an establishment that is committed to helping our youth”, stated Callie Wipf, Scholarship Committee Member and Teller Services Representative in the Aberdeen Branch.
The following winners were each awarded $1,000 to use toward their continued education. Kyla Peskey of Iroquois will graduate from Huron High School and will be attending South Dakota State University in Brookings, majoring in Health Science. Noah Felderman of Doland will graduate from Doland High School and will be attending Lake Area Technical College in Watertown, majoring in Law Enforcement. Ireland Hennrich of Huron is currently attending Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Fla., majoring in Aerospace Engineering. Natalie Cundy of Iroquois will graduate from Iroquois High School and will be attending Lake Area Technical College in Watertown, majoring in Physical Therapy. Hailey Rogers of Alpena will graduate from Huron High School and will be attending Northern State University in Aberdeen, majoring in Elementary Education. Hope Baysinger of Woonsocket will graduate from Mitchell High School and will be attending South Dakota State University in Brookings, majoring in Animal Science. Addyson Baruth of Alpena will graduate from Woonsocket High School and will be attending Northern State University in Aberdeen, majoring in Psychology. Kiana Schmit of Elkton will graduate from Deubrook Area High School and will be attending South Dakota State University in Brookings, majoring in Human Biology. Cheyenne Vander Wal of Bruce will graduate from Sioux Valley High School and will be attending South Dakota State University in Brookings, majoring in Nursing. Emily Gades of Ethan will be graduating from Ethan High School and will be attending Lake Area Technical College in Watertown, majoring in Law Enforcement and Conservation.
“For several decades, the credit union has supported our area youth with scholarships giving them the freedom to achieve their aspirations and become great citizens. Of all the ways Dakotaland gives back to our membership, I feel this is one of the more important”, added Credit Union President, Ryan Goehner.
