Heinz named to AA all-state team for Tigers

HURON — Senior Hylton Heinz was named to the second team of the Class AA All-State team, which was selected by the South Dakota Basketball Coaches Association. Heinz, a 5-foot, 8-inch guard, averaged 20.6 points per game this season for the Tigers. She had 5.9 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game during her senior campaign. “Another well-deserved award for Hylton,” Huron coach Kody Kopfmann said. “All the work that she has put in over her 4-year high school career has paid off.

“She is one of the hardest working players I have ever coached and she earned all these awards that she is getting,” he said. Heinz has committed to play college basketball at Dakota State University. Alyvia Padgett of Brandon Valley was selected as the Class AA Player of the Year for the second year in a row. Padgett was joined on the Class AA first team by senior Sydney Terveen of O’Gorman, junior Brinley Altenburg of Sioux Falls Jefferson, senior Dana Harpe of Sioux Falls Washington, junior Ruby Moore of O’Gorman and senior Gracie Salter of Brandon Valley. The second team was made up of Heinz, senior Addie Siemsen of Mitchell, junior Leah Landry of Rapid City Central, senior Taryn Hermansen of Aberdeen Central, unior Lauryn Burckhard of Aberdeen Central, and sophomore Josie Biteler of Sioux Falls Washington. Honorable mention went to sophomore Henlee Loof of Sioux Falls Roosevelt; freshman Jayna VanLaecken of Tea Area, junior Eden Wolfgram of Yankton, senior Kate Scharf of Spearfish, senior Ava Kellenberger of Brandon Valley and senior Sadie Mehrman of O’Gorman.
