New faces, old faces and lasagna

With the end of our first quarter of the year, here’s a bit of a recap (and a bit of a preview) of what has been happening at the Plainsman.

In an effort to improve our printing quality, we welcomed two familiar faces into our press room. Chris Murphree has returned as a press operator and Trent Augspurger will be assisting with press operation while working on prepress, graphic design, and pagination.

On April first, we welcomed a new friendly face to our front office with the addition of Brenda Knouse, who will be available by phone and in person from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Thursday. If you’re still looking to take advantage of our Luck of the Irish special, we are honoring it through April 9th, so stop by or give Brenda a call.

In March we also so the return of the familiar “sunburst” Plainsman logo on our front page with a layout that pays homage to the Plainsman’s historic look and the editorial staff who got us here.

We also unveiled a new ringneck mascot, but we have a very real problem in our office – that rooster needs a name!

So, get out your thinking caps, because we’ll be rolling out a contest and we’re going to need everyone’s help to find the best one.

I want to thank everyone who has subscribed, picked up an issue from a rack or store, or simply stopped by to offer their support. We’re looking forward to a great second quarter with the return of some requested items such as: engagements, weddings, movie listings, and even a cynical, orange tabby cat with a love for lasagna. Yes, he and a few other friends will be returning to our pages – just give us a little time to prepare their new home.
