Iroquois FCCLA members Trae and Thomas recently completed a Career Fair as part of their National Programs in Action STAR Event, focusing on the FCCLA national program Career Connection. This program helps students explore career pathways, develop employability skills, and connect classroom learning to real-world opportunities.
On April 8, during first period, fifth-grade students visited the FACS room to participate in the event. They had the opportunity to explore nine different career options through interactive displays created by freshman students. Each freshman selected a career, researched it, and designed an engaging presentation that included hands-on elements to enhance learning.
The Career Fair provided a meaningful experience for the fifth graders, allowing them to ask questions, learn about a variety of professions, and begin thinking about their own future career paths. It also created a valuable connection between elementary and high school students, strengthening the sense of community within the school.
Trae and Thomas are now preparing to present their project at the FCCLA State Leadership Conference, which will be held April 26–28. Their presentation will highlight the planning process, implementation, and impact of the Career Fair.
The Iroquois FCCLA chapter looks forward to seeing how they represent their school at the state level.
