YANKTON –– The Huron Tigers struggled to push runs across the plate, dropping a pair to the Yankton Bucks on Wednesday, 10-0 and 7-2.
In the opener, Yankton blew open a close game with a huge fifth inning to walk off with the run-rule 10-0 victory.
Nolan Stahly went four innings, allowing four runs, but only one earned, on six hits and three walks, striking out three. CJ Siedschlag gave up six runs in the fifth, only getting one out on a strikeout before the final run crossed the plate.
No Huron hitter reached base twice, with Chase Schuchhardt, Cooper Bischoff, Zach Scheer, and Siedschlag each picking up a single and Parker Bischoff drawing a walk.
Huron outhit the Bucks in the nightcap, but Yankton took advantage of eight walks by Tiger pitching and five errors by Huron fielders to earn a 7-2 win.
Oakley Anderson opened the game on the mound, allowing four runs, two earned, over 2 1/3 innings, allowing just one hit and walking five while striking out one. Tommie Martin got the final 3 2/3 innings, allowing three runs, two earned, on two hits and three walks. Martin struck out four Bucks.
The Tigers were able to get five hits and a walk, but no batter reached base twice.
Cooper Bischoff and Gavin Waldner each stole two bases.
The Tigers take a 1-5 record on the road to Sioux Falls Washington on Monday
