HURON –– Dan Wurzer, age 63, of Huron, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at Huron Regional Medical Center in Huron. His memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 28, at Welter Funeral Home with burial to follow at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in Huron. His visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, April 27, at Welter Funeral Home. Daniel Clement Wurzer was born March 9,1963, to Clem and Barb Wurzer. He joined three sisters at that time and then a little later he was joined by yet another sister. Being the only boy was difficult, but he was spoiled and very much loved by his four sisters. He graduated from Turkey Valley High School in 1983. Then he attended NICC (Northeast Iowa Community College).
He married the love of his life, Jill Tschetter on May 26,1990. They were married for almost 27 years. Jill sadly passed away on March 29, 2017. Dan never truly recovered from losing her.
Dan was co-owner of Huron Garage Door Company since 1992 with his partner Todd Johnson. Anyone that knew Dan knew that he was always willing to help anyone. He was very soft spoken but had a big, kind heart.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, and going to football games and spending time with family and friends.
He was Dad to Derek and Papa to Ashlyn Rae, the apple of his eye. His nieces and nephews loved him dearly.
Dan will be in our hearts forever and will be sorely missed by his sisters Kathi (Jeff) Cermak of Stoddard, Wis.; Patti (Roy) Tschetter of Huron; Mary (Joe) Dryden of Lakewood, Colo.; Joni (Paul) Styve of Lansing Iowa, his son Derek; his granddaughter Ashlyn Rae; nieces and nephews: Alexandra (Nick) Gates, Rachel (Jeremy) Nebelsick, Andy (Madison) Dryden, Sara (Jacob) Voegele, Matthew (Leah) Cermak, Mike (Cecile) Tschetter, Shari Dryden (Danny), Emily (Vishy) Gorti, great nieces and nephews-Felix and Charlotte Gates, Hartley, Houston and Hayden Tschetter, Westin and Corbin Nebelsick, Zoë, Amelie and Gilbert Dryden; Emma Cermak; Ophelia Voegele; several aunts, uncles, cousins and extended friends and family.
Dan will be reunited with his wife Jill, his parents Clem and Barb Wurzer, and his nephew Brett Styve.
Memorials can be made to the family to be directed to charities of the family’s choice.
