HURON — The Miller golfers won the team titles during the Wolsey-Wessington Invite on Friday at Broadland Creek Golf Course.
With a score of 243, the Rustlers won the boys’ title by 13 strokes over Wessington Springs. Sanborn Central/Woonsocket was third at 267, followed by Doland at 269 and Wolsey-Wessington at 295.
Miller won a two-team battle for the title in the girls’ event with a 258. Sanborn Central/Woonsocket was second at 333.
Larz Tvedt of Wolsey-Wessington turned in the top boys’ score to earn the medalist honors with a 75, while Derek Brueggeman of Miller was second a stroke back with a 76.
JD Thompson of Wessington Springs was third with a 79, while Kaiden Weinreis of Doland was fourth at 80 and Oliver Fritzsche of Miller was fifth with an 81.
Rounding out the scoring lineup for Miller was Jorryn Heilman with an 86, which placed him sixth in the 23-golfer field.
Miller had three of the top four golfers in the girls’ field.
Jayce Pugh won the event for the Rustlers with a 76, while teammates Kaihlyn Anderberg and Bailey Brueggeman were third and fourth, respectively, with scores of 88 and 94.
Olivia Knox of Doland was second with an 85, while Allison Westendorf of Sanborn Central/Woonsocket rounded out the top five with a 102.
