Marlys Roth, 80

HURON –– Marlys Roth, age 80 of Huron, passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at Peaceful Pines Senior Living, Huron.

Her funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 1, at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in the Menno Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Marlys Verla Oswald was born April 24, 1946, to Albert and Edna Oswald. She grew up in the Menno area and graduated from Menno High School.

She married Daryll Roth and they lived in Freeman. To this union, they had two daughters: Paula and Charlene.

Marlys worked many years at the Freeman Bakery, Casey’s and Wollman’s Grocery Store. She enjoyed visiting with all the customers.

Later, Marlys moved to Huron and worked as an activity aide at Violet Tschetter Memorial Home and volunteered in the activity department at SunQuest Village. She loved helping the residents.

The highlights of her life were the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Edna Oswald; her brothers, LeRoy Oswald and Vilo Oswald; several aunts, uncles and a cousin.

Marlys is survived by her daughters, Paula (Terry) Garbe of Alpena and Charlene (Darvin) Polsean of Huron; her grandchildren, Ray (Diana) Glanzer of Huron, Wendy (Keith) Overweg of Plankinton, Brittany (Michael) Fast of Iroquois and Stephanie Oropeza of Huron; eleven great-grandchildren; her aunts and cousins.
