Music is a Constant Companion ~ Theme for National Federation of Music Clubs’ National Music Week

My experience with music, both inside and outside of study, has been positive. Having been a student in it and a general consumer, I’ve been able to make a lot of memories from music, memories that I can think of for a long time.

I began taking piano lessons when I was in fourth grade, and joined percussion in band the following year. Throughout all that time, I am still able to remember pieces I’ve performed and positive memories around those performances, such as getting a perfect score at a contest or working hard during marching band. Looking towards the future, being a piano student gives me many opportunities, such as opportunities to play for different crowds and scholarships. It joys me to be able to spread the love of music and meet many friends by being in ensembles.

I don’t stop my music consumption outside of lessons. I enjoy collecting physical media (vinyl, CDs) in my free time, and attending concerts is another way that music creates memories for me. Being surrounded by music in so many ways, it truly becomes a companion, one that is always there, and one that I can always go back to. So many songs and pieces are able to bring a cheery mood, or remind me of something or someone I love.

Overall, music has been accompanying me for a long time in my life. I can’t imagine a life where I don’t choose music. I am so grateful to be someone who can spread the love of music. I love being able to know the crowd and myself, and having enjoyment in performances, or finding people who have a shared interest in music with me.
