Bigge Piano Studio observes National Music Week with a recital

The piano students of Beverly Bigge celebrated the first day of the National Federation of Music Clubs (NFMC) National Music Week by presenting a spring recital on May 3 at Hope Lutheran Church. The theme of the recital was “Celebrate America 250!” as students entertained the audience with patriotic music.

Piano students who study with Beverly Bigge received NFMC gold cups. Students participating in the local Huron Junior Festival are required to memorize two pieces and perform them for an adjudicator. Points are accrued from year to year to earn cups.

• Third gold cup (45 points): Piano Solo: Alexandra Hohm & Audri Hohm

• First gold cup (15 points): Piano Solo: Elizabeth Hohm

Students receiving NFMC superior certificates for Junior Music Festival were:

Students receiving the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) Study award for five or more years of study included: Five years: Brooklyn Chase, Lily Faul, Gabriella Gilbert, Peter Helkenn, Annie Porter, Summer Senska; Seven years: Madalyne Bock, Maria Porter; Eight years: Avery Ashbaugh, Emmersyn McGillvrey; Ten years: Anna Arhart, Lydia Helkenn, Alexandra Hohm, Audri Hohm

• Studio Performance Award: All students received an award for piano participation in recitals, contests, school music groups, church ministry, and community events. Audri Hohm and Lydia Helkenn received special recognition for sharing their piano talents in many areas.

Bigge is a nationally certified teacher of music with the Music Teachers National Association and maintains a private studio in Huron
