Huron coach Tim Buddenhagen was named the South Dakota High School Coaches Association Boys’ Basketball Coach of the Year!
Coach Buddenhagen has dedicated an incredible 39 years to coaching boys’ and girls’ basketball at Huron High School, leaving a lasting impact on countless student-athletes and the community.
Throughout his outstanding career, his teams have captured 7 ESD Championship Titles, including the 2026 championship season, along with 3 State Championships, most recently in 2026. His program has also made numerous state tournament appearances over the years.
This past season was especially memorable, marking Huron’s first state title in 20 years. Coach Buddenhagen shared how proud he was of the toughness his players showed on the court and the way the Huron community rallied around the team during their championship run.
Beyond wins and titles, Coach Buddenhagen’s vision has always been bigger than basketball—developing tough-minded individuals and helping young men grow into confident, disciplined leaders.
