HURON –– The Huron Tigers close out their spring baseball season today in Brandon, but the club has struggled through the month of May and is currently on an eight-game losing streak.

On Friday, May 1, the Tigers hosted Sioux Falls Jefferson, falling 13-1 and 7-1.

In the first game, Oakley Anderson took the ball to open and went 5 1/3 innings, allowing six runs on seven hits, walking five, and striking out four. Korbin Brock pitched the final 1 2/3 innings, allowing seven runs on six hits and five walks.

No Tiger hitter reached base twice, as the team totaled four hits and two walks.

Elijah Shreeve tossed all seven innings of the nightcap, allowing seven runs on 12 hits and two walks, striking out one.

Sean Janes walked twice as the offense tallied four hits and four walks.

On Saturday, May 2, Huron hosted its final home games of the season, falling twice to Tea Area, 5-3 and 6-4.

Nolan Stahly went the distance in the opener, allowing five runs on nine hits and four walks over seven innings, striking out two.

Anderson drew three walks from the leadoff spot. Tommie Martin had a pair of singles and a stolen base. CJ Siedschlag had a single and a walk.

Shreeve and Brock each added a stolen base.

The Tigers pieced together pitching in the second game, with Martin throwing the first 1 2/3 innings, allowing two runs on three hits and a walk, striking out three. Siedschlag then followed with two innings of no-hit relief, allowing two unearned runs and a walk. Tyce Huber threw 2 1/3 innings, allowing a run on one hit and three walks, striking out one. Chase Schuchhardt closed out the game, allowing one run on one hit and one walk in an inning pitched.

The Tiger offense hit well, with Siedschlag leading the way with a double, a single, and a stolen base. Martin was walked, hit by a pitch, and stole a base. Huber had a single and a walk.

Shreeve and Parker Bischoff each added a stolen base.

On Monday, the Tigers traveled to O’Gorman, but the bats were quiet in a pair of shutout losses.

The Knights took the opener 10-0. Martin opened the game and went five innings, allowing seven runs on 11 hits and three walks, striking out three. Siedschlag allowed three runs on a hit and three walks to close out the run-rule game without recording an out.

Huber had a pair of walks for the offense.

O’Gorman jumped out with six runs in the first inning en route to a 13-0 win in the nightcap. Schuchhardt got the start and allowed 12 runs in two innings on 12 hits and three walks. Huber closed out on the mound with two innings, allowing one run on two hits and four walks, striking out one.

Schuchhardt had a pair of singles from the leadoff spot, but the Tiger offense could only muster five baserunners in the game.

Huron falls to 2-20 on the season heading into their final doubleheader of the year against top-ranked Brandon Valley.

JV baseball closes out season with win over Mitchell

HURON –– The Huron Tigers junior varsity baseball season closed out a 4-6 campaign on the season by splitting a doubleheader with Mitchell on Tuesday.

In the opening game, runs were plentiful, but a 10-run fourth inning for Mitchell doomed the Tigers to an 18-13 loss.

Sean Janes opened the game on the mound, going three innings, allowing 13 runs, nine earned, on ten hits and five walks. Colt Culver closed out the game with three innings, allowing five runs on five hits and five walks while striking out two.

Janes was able to collect three hits on the day. Tyce Huber had a triple, a single, and a walk. Leadoff hitter Parker Bischoff had a double and two walks.

Chase Schuchhardt had a double, was hit by a pitch, and stole a base on the day. Jackson Ford had a single and a walk and also stole a base. Jimmie Martin had a double and a single, and Korbin Brock had a single, a walk, and stole a base.

The Tigers’ offense kept rolling in the nightcap, but the Kernels couldn’t keep up, leading to a 14-4 run-rule victory for Huron.

Parker Bischoff went the distance on the mound for the Tigers, tossing four innings, allowing four runs, three earned, on six hits and four walks. He struck out three.

Ford had a pair of singles and a pair of walks. Janes had two singles, a walk, and was hit by a pitch.

Bischoff had a single and a pair of walks, as did Huber. Culver had a walk and was hit by a pitch twice. Uriah Cardona drew two walks and was hit by a pitch.

Schuchhardt had a single and a walk. Martin had a pair of walks and stole a base. Brock had a walk and was hit by a pitch.
