YANKTON — The Huron boys’ tennis team finished ninth at the Eastern South Dakota Conference Tournament, which was held Monday and Tuesday.
Harrisburg won the event with 436 points, while Brandon Valley was second at 279.5.
Mitchell was third at 188, followed by Yankton at 180 and Watertown at 91 to round out the top five.
Aberdeen Central was sixth at 44.5, followed by Brookings at 34.5, Pierre at 19.5 and Huron at 16.5.
Harrisburg claimed ESD titles in five of the six singles flights and swept the doubles competition en route to winning the championship.
Mitchell won the No. 6 singles title to prevent the sweep by Harrisburg.
Jeremiah Notario was the highest finisher for Huron. He won a consolation title in No. 6 singles.
After opening the event with a 10-0 setback, Notario rebounded with wins of 8-6 and 9-2 to secure the consolation title.
Lah Gay Soe reached the consolation championship match for Huron at No. 2 singles. After a 10-5 loss to open the tournament, he inked an 8-5 win, before an 8-1 loss in his final match.
Soe and Notario also reached the consolation semifinals for Huron in No. 2 doubles.
Huron will close the season at the Class A State Tournament, which is scheduled for Monday and Tuesday in Rapid City.
