Letter – Williams 5-16-26

To the editor:

Donald Trump’s obsession with bombing countries or kidnapping their leaders has left the world’s economies in a quagmire. His bungling and megalomania won’t allow for a favorable outcome in Iran. Democrats said unlawful orders could be refused; Republicans came unhinged. It’s in the uniform code of military justice.

Trump contradicted his negotiators in the middle of making a deal. There is still a blockade in the Strait of Hormuz.

The Obama nuclear deal was negotiated in 2018. Trump backed out of that deal, claiming it was the worst deal ever made. Iran still has control of the Strait.

Trump is proposing the exact talking points that were in place. With Obama’s deal, inspectors could come in to make sure there was no enriched Uranium. Since Trump entered the White House, Iran has had the capability of arming upwards of 20 nuclear warheads. If Iran’s military is completely decimated, why isn’t Trump willing to retrieve it?

This war has lasted longer than 60 days without Congressional approval.

He said Obama was a bad negotiator. It’s the art of the deal, regurgitated theft by deception.

Iran proposed a $2 million toll on every vessel that enters the Strait.

Medicare, FEMA, and almost all social programs could have been funded with the money spent on this fiasco. This is what it looks like when someone who knows nothing believes and tries to convince you that he knows everything.

The question is not whether this was avoidable. It was. The question is, how much worse will it get before there is accountability?
