Sorben leads Huron golfers at Mitchell Invitational

MITCHELL — Taylor Sorben shot an 87 to lead the Huron girls’ golf team at the Mitchell Invitational on Friday at Lakeview Golf Course.

Sorben finished in a 7-way tie for spot No. 28 in the 93-golfer field for the Tigers.

Aberdeen Central’s Emma Dohrer used a even-par 72 to win the medalist honors by a stroke.

Olivia Broun of Aberdeen Central, Vanessa Smith of Brandon Valley, Erin Hurd of O’Gorman and Gabi Olson of Watertown shared the second spot with scores of 73. Kyley Wirebaugh of Aberdeen Central was sixth at 74, while Ari Jacobs of O’Gorman and Londyn Hajek of Mitchell had scores of 75 to share the seventh spot.

Anna Eliason of Mitchell and Ellia Homstad of Yankton had scores of 76 to share the ninth spot.

Rounding out the lineup for Huron, was Elle Waldoch with a 109 and Olivia Purintun with a 110.

With three of the top six golfers in the event, Aberdeen Central won the team title with a 297. Mitchell was second at 307, followed by Brandon Valley at 319, O’Gorman at 329 and Yankton at 341.

The Tigers did not qualify for a team score.

Huron travels to compete in the Watertown Invitational on Tuesday.
