Information on political letters and early deadlines

The June 2 election is upcoming, and with the election, multiple people have inquired about printing letters of support for a particular candidate for one of the races on the June 2 ballot.

The letter policy for the Plainsman is that any person can write one letter per calendar month not to exceed 300 words in length. Each letter is verified through phone call to ensure the person signing the letter is the person who truly wrote and sent it.

For any letter that speaks to an active candidate for office and either supports or opposes the candidate or a letter that supports or opposes a particular ballot initiative on an active ballot, there is a charge of $25 per letter, payable before the letter is printed.

For the Saturday, May 30, edition of the Plainsman, the letter to the editor deadline is Thursday, May 28, by 5 p.m. Please have all letters submitted by that time to [email protected] in order to be included in the May 30 edition.
