BROOKINGS — With three of the top five golfers in the tournament, O’Gorman edged Aberdeen Central by two strokes for the team title during the Bill Scholten Invite on Thursday at the Brookings Country Club.
The Knights finished with a winning total of 317, while Aberdeen Central, which had two golfers in the top five, carded a 317.
Mitchell was third in the 14-team field with a 323, followed by Sioux Falls Lincoln at 344 and Yankton at 345.
Olivia Braun of Aberdeen Central shot an even-par 72 to claim the individual title, while Ari Jacob of O’Gorman was second at 73.
Emma Dohrer of Aberdeen Central was third at 76, followed by O’Gorman teammates Geneva Frederickson and Erin Hurd at 78 and 79, respectively.
Mitchell teammates Mia Larson and Maddie Childs had scores of 79 to finish in spots No. 6 and 7, respectively. Ella Homstad of Yankton was eighth at 80, followed by Hadley Hart of Pierre at 81 and Londyn Hajek of Mitchell at 82.
Taylor Sorben was the top golfer for Huron with a 99, which put her in spot No. 53.
The other golfer in the tournament for the Tigers was Elle Waldoch, who finished at 107.
Huron will close the regular season at the Eastern South Dakota Conference Meet on Tuesday at Moccasin Creek Country Club in Aberdeen.
Yankton wins Middle School ESD title
HURON — Yankton edged Mitchell by a stroke to claim the team title at the Eastern South Dakota Conference Middle School Meet on Tuesday at Broadland Creek Golf Course.
Huron was seventh in the event.
Harper Anderson of Yankton won the individual ESD title with a 44, while Kate Schutz of Mitchell was second at 44.
Audrey Andal of Brookings had a 48, while Kenzie Burns of Brandon Valley finished at 52 and Madi Ballis of Brookings had a 53.
Rylynn Crandall led Huron with a 69, which placed her No. 25 in the final standings.
Elizabeth Sorgen had a 77 for the Tigers, while Avery Mulder finished at 78 and Ashtyn Pedersen carded an 83.
