2021 HRMC Foundation scholarships now available

Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) Foundation is pleased to announce applications are now available for scholarship funds to promote careers in health care in the Huron area, according to Shawn Martin, HRMC Foundation executive director.

“Our primary goal is to encourage individuals to further their education while pursuing a career in a health care field with the outcome being more qualified persons to care for our community into the future,” explained Martin. “We welcome students of all ages to apply and learn more about the lifelong fulfillment of a career in health care.”

The scholarships are designed to give local scholars the chance to achieve their career goals while bringing much-needed medical expertise to the community. There are two categories which are available to area high school seniors and college students pursuing health careers.

The Healthy Huron Interest Scholarship focuses on supporting those who are interested in a career in the medical field but are either not pursuing a degree in a critical need field or are not ready to make a commitment to return to the Huron area after graduation. Actual scholarship award amounts will be determined by the scholarship committee with up to $10,000 available annually.

The Healthy Huron Commitment Scholarship was established to turn the tide on one of the top challenges facing Huron and rural health care. This effort focuses on developing a steady supply of highly trained medical professionals by heavily supporting their education journey in exchange for their returning to Huron to care for our community. Commitment Scholarship amounts vary and are available to students who are willing to commit to return to Huron and work in a high-need area such as nursing, medical laboratory technician, respiratory therapy or surgery technician.

Applications for both Interest and Commitment Scholarships must be submitted electronically by 5 p.m. on March 31. To learn more and to apply, visit www.hrmcfoundation.org. For questions, call 353-6315 or e-mail [email protected]
