Highmore-Harrold 53, Sunshine Bible 11
HURON - Top-seeded Highmore-Harrold had a dominant first half that saw Sunshine Bible Academy’s only points come on a pair of technical foul free throws before cruising to a 53-11 victory over the #8 seed on Monday at the Huron Arena.
The Pirates used a balanced attack to run their record to 6-2 on the season. Grace Knox and Letha Jessen each had 10 points while Courtney Moser pitched in nine. Haley Husted and Emilee Schied led the Pirates with five rebounds apiece.
The Crusaders fell to 0-8 on the year with the loss despite a game-high nine rebounds from Beth Konechne. She also led Sunshine Bible Academy with five points.
Highmore-Harrold will move on in the winner’s bracket Tuesday to take on fifth-seeded Wolsey-Wessington at Huron Arena. Sunshine Bible Academy will play fourth-seeded James Valley Christian on Tuesday in the consolation semifinals at the James Valley Christian gym.

Hitchcock-Tulare 47, Wessington Springs 22
HURON - Third-seeded Hitchcock-Tulare jumped out to a big halftime lead and cruised to a 47-22 victory over sixth-seeded Wessington Springs in the opening round of the 281 Conference Tournament on Monday at James Valley Christian.
The Patriots’ Elizabeth Salmen had a dominant game, leading all scorers with 23 points, including the game’s only three-point basket. She was aided by Dannyn Peterson with 12 points. Salmen also led the team with nine rebounds as Hitchcock-Tulare moved to 6-3 on the season.
The Spartans moved to 2-8 on the year with the loss. They were led by Grace Gran with 10 points. Avery Orth was strong on the boards with 13 rebounds and Piper Jones also grabbed 11 for Wessington Springs.

Wessington Springs will take on seventh-seeded Iroquois/Doland Tuesday while Hitchcock-Tulare moves on to battle Sanborn Central/Woonsocket.

HURON — The Sanborn Central/Woonsocket Blackhawks used a consistent team scoring attack, scoring 14 points in each of the first three quarters as a team, as well as strong defense to defeat seventh-seeded Sanborn Central/Woonsocket on Monday in 281 Conference Tournament action at the Huron Arena.
The second-seeded Blackhawks moved to 4-6 on the year with the victory. They were led by Teya Moody with 11 points. Kaylee White added 10 points. Trista White scored nine points of her own and led the game with eight rebounds.
The Chiefs were led by Katie Dubro with nine points as they fell to 1-8 on the season. Harley Nelson led Iroquois/Doland with five rebounds.
Sanborn Central/Woonsocket will take on third-seeded Hitchcock-Tulare on Tuesday in the winner’s bracket while Iroquois/Doland faces off with sixth-seeded Wessington Springs.

HURON — A game befitting a battle between fourth and fifth seeds in the 281 Conference Tournament saw the Wolsey-Wessington Warbirds eek out a victory over the James Valley Christian Vikings at James Valley Christian on Monday.
The fifth-seeded Warbirds held a 14-8 lead after the first frame and never surrendered the lead in the second half, but the game was played very close throughout the second half after the Vikings jumped out with a quick run to open the second half.
Fourth-seeded James Valley Christian moves to 3-6 on the season with the loss. They were led by Karilyn Wieting, who scored a game-high 22 points. Brenna Held added eight points and led the Vikings with eight rebounds.
The Warbirds used a balanced scoring attack that saw five players with at least seven points and none with more than eight points. Macie Luce led Wolsey-Wessington, who moves to 3-4 with the win, with six rebounds.
Wolsey-Wessington will move forward in the winner’s bracket to face top seed Highmore-Harrold on Tuesday. James Valley Christian will take on Sunshine Bible Academy in the consolation bracket.
